John Holland have completed yet another multimillion-dollar job - Royal Hobart Hospital. Lyon Architecture and Contractors Q3 Group also made a significant contribution towards the success of this project. The hospital with a value of $550 Million benefits all Tasmanians.
There were a large amount of design and construction situations that arose on site, such issues included the large reception counters with heavy sliding glass panels, along with 5,100mm walls with fixtures and various linings. With the experienced engineering team and lots of face to face contact on site, these issues were overcome.
Extensive designs were formulated for external walls due to high wind pressures. The building is under level 4 importance and needed to be designed to meet seismic criteria. Following a vital wind report, the results showed varying pressures on all 4 sides and in different locations. This made it necessary that each external wall encompassed a different design. The project also required fire rated walls and ceilings.
As the project was located in Hobart, it required the project team including Rondo to work together to be organised and keep a clear path of communication. This resulted in the full specification being completed early in the process, the specification included Rondo Wall Stud, KEY LOCK® Ceiling Systems, DUO® Ceiling Systems, External Soffit Systems and our extensive knowledge on seismic design.
Delivering to site was a challenge throughout the project however the Rondo distribution and customer service team worked closely with the contractor and distributor to ensure Accurate and seamless delivery to site.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the project is seeing the teams work together in particular with Lyons Architecture and having Rondo Walls, Ceilings and Accessories fully specified throughout the project a year before the contractor was awarded.
